Family Connection

How to Connect With Your Child

Take a moment to reflect:
When you are not correcting, teaching or reminding your child, how do you usually connect with them?

Because every child should be able to remember:
“When I needed my parents, did they really see me, hear me and stay present with me?”

“父母一辈子都在等子女感激,
而子女一辈子都在等父母道歉。”

Parents spend their whole lives waiting for their children to be grateful, while children spend their whole lives waiting for their parents to apologise.

A Pattern Many Families Share

Parent and child feeling disconnected
Heart illustration

We love our children deeply, but our love can become entangled with expectations, inherited beliefs, or habits we never paused to question.

Eye illustration

Children learn how to love us by watching how we love them.

Conversation illustration

Some children quietly wait for their parents to acknowledge their feelings or apologise when something feels unfair or misunderstood.

When we wait only for gratitude, we may miss everyday moments of connection.

When we refuse to apologise, we may teach children to hide their feelings instead of expressing them.

And sadly, both sides keep waiting. Nobody wins. The relationship loses.

What These Sessions Encourage

Parent and child embracing

Letting go of the attachment to who they “should” be

When our hopes become rigid expectations, we stop seeing who they actually are.

Parent and child in conversation

Release the need to be right … freeing ourselves from “wrong views.”

Being willing to learn from your child strengthens trust.

Parent reflecting with a book

Respond instead of React

You’re still setting boundaries, but without adding anger to the situation.

Parent and child connecting

Love without possession

Separating the child’s worth from their behaviour.
